Photoshoot with Angele, Ottawa, Ontario, 22 Dec 2011.
This was my 14th and last photshoot of 2011. I had set a goal of 15 for the year, and while I would like to have done more, overall I think it was still a good year with some decent results :)
This shoot with Angèle was really an equipment test shoot. I had rented a lens to evaluate for future indoor photoshoots in tighter spaces than my current lenses let me work. It is a bit odd then that I evaluated the lens on an outdoor shoot..., at night..., using only available light! But I wanted a holiday themed shoot, and that's exactly what I got :)
Because this lens is a bit on the wide side, the shoot took on a "fashion-y" feel rather than tightly-framed portraits. Framing the shots was a real challenge, especially in the dark, and getting things in focus was quite difficult---the camera's autofocus could barely "see" the model, and my eyes were no better for manual focus.
Regardless, Angèle gritted through the chilly temperatures with me for about half a dozen sets under the Christmas lights. For my first ever photoshoot under such lighting conditions, I'm quite happy with the results, especially since everything is lit using only streetlights, tree lights, etc. The wet ground also gave some nice reflections.
Looking forward to even more in 2012! :)
